Our Story
PAM SWIM was founded by New York native Pamela Alvarez Macabú, whose vision was deeply inspired by her Brazilian roots and lifelong love for fashion.
After graduating college in 2019, Pamela found herself uncertain about her career path — but clear on her desire to explore life beyond her comfort zone. A transformative trip to Rio de Janeiro during Carnival ignited something in her. Immersed in the culture, energy, and beauty of Brazil, she felt both connected to her heritage and inspired by the confidence and style of the women around her.
An avid bikini collector, Pamela began dreaming of creating her own swimwear line — pieces designed to celebrate different body types while embodying bold femininity. That dream quietly lived in her manifestation journals for years while she pursued other passions, including becoming a published author and educator.
In 2024, she took a leap of faith — moving to Rio de Janeiro alone for three months. There, what started as research into manufacturers turned into something far more personal: Pamela enrolled in sewing classes and began hand-making bikinis herself. What began as custom pieces for friends quickly evolved into the foundation of her brand.
Her first collection, inspired by the iconic “Carioca” woman, marked the official birth of PAM SWIM. Though faced with early challenges and personal loss, Pamela remained committed to her vision. She continued refining her craft, later sourcing premium fabrics from São Paulo to create her second collection, elevating the brand’s identity and design.
Since then, PAM SWIM has grown into a globally inspired swimwear label — showcased at major fashion events including Miami Swim Week and New York Swim Week.
Today, the brand represents more than swimwear. It embodies confidence, resilience, cultural pride, and the power of betting on yourself — even when the journey is uncertain.
